Teeth grinding (bruxism) - Dentist Halyna Unihovska-Renner Munich
Grinding or also pressing with the teeth is very widespread. In many cases it is an unconscious way of dealing with stress. The technical term for this is bruxism. This bruxism can also be caused by a "false" bite.
In the long term, teeth grinding leads to damage to the tooth substance, the jaw joint, the masticatory muscles and can ultimately lead to craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD).
Interdisciplinary approaches can be considered as therapy:
- Dental occlusion corrections
- Splint therapy
- Orthodontics or surgery on a case-by-case basis
Self-observation also plays an important role. Talk to us, we will be happy to advise you!
